Accessibility statement

Accessibility.

I want Due Badger to be usable by everybody who has compliance dates to keep, which is most people at some point.

What I aim for

WCAG 2.2 at level AA. I am one person and I have not had the site audited, so treat that as the target I build to rather than a certified result.

What is in place

• Every page works from the keyboard, and focus is always visible.
• Headings, lists, tables and form labels are real markup, so a screen reader gets the same structure a sighted reader does.
• Text and background colours are chosen for contrast, and colour is never the only thing carrying a meaning. An overdue date says how late it is in words as well as in red.
• There is no animation, no carousel, no automatic movement and no timed content.
• The site works at any window width down to a phone, and text can be enlarged without the layout breaking.

What I know is not perfect

• The register figure is a drawing of dates. It carries the same information as the list under it, which is the accessible version, but the drawing itself is not described mark by mark.
• The reminder emails are plain and simple, but they have not been tested in every mail client.
• Nothing here has been tested with a real screen reader user, only with the tools I have.
